Pavel Baransky (baritone) was born in 1986 and studied at the Ukrainian National Academy of Music. In 2000 he won the Grand Prix at the International Competition for Young Singers in Beskov, Germany. In 2003 he was a finalist in the BBC Singer of the World Competition and in Placido Domingo's Operalia Competition. He has toured various countries with the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and has appeared as a soloist on the orchestra's recordings. He made his opera debut in 2003 singing the title role in Eugene Onegin with the Hamburg Opera, and has sung with the Welsh National Opera.
