The soprano Olga Mykytenko was born in 1974 in Zhytomyr, Ukraine, where she attended the local music college. From 1992 to 1997 she studied at the Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music of Ukraine. She is currently a soloist with the National Opera of Ukraine in Kyiv where she made her debut in 1995.
She was awarded the Grand Prix at the 1997 Maria Callas International Song Contest in Athens, second prize and special award at the 1997 Francisco Vinas Contest in Barcelona and first prize at the 2003 Queen Sonja International Song Competition in Oslo.
Outside Ukraine she has sung in many countries including Austria, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, Estonia, Russia, Italy, Bulgaria, Greece, France and Norway. Her roles include Violetta (La Traviata), the title role of Iolanta, Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Musetta (La Bohème), Mimi (La Bohème) and others.
