Serhiy Salov was born in Ukraine, where he received his early musical training at the Special Music School of Donetsk. At the age of 11 he made his debut as a soloist in Grieg's Piano Concerto with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. In 1994 he moved to Germany to study at the Musikhochschule Freiburg, from where he graduated in 1999. He pursued post-graduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
Serhiy Salov has won first prize at many piano competitions, including: the Grotrian-Steinweg Piano competition (Braunschweig, 1995), the Concours Musical de France (Paris, 1998), the Beethoven Society of Europe Intercollegiate Piano Competition (2000), the 6th Hamamatsu International Piano Academy, the Epinal International Piano Competition (France, 2001), the Dudley Piano Competition (2001) and the third Montreal International Musical Competition (2004). He has given recitals in Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Ukraine, Japan and the UK.
