Vidrodzhennia choir

The Vidrodzhennia (Renaissance) mixed voice choir is composed of second-generation Ukrainians living in the Manchester area. The choir's repertoire includes Ukrainian sacred music as well as traditional folk and modern Ukrainian songs. The choir performs at church services, concerts, choral competitions and other events.

Competitions in which Vidrodzhennia has taken part in recent years include the BBC Minstrels in the Gallery competition, the Sainsbury's Choir of the Year Competition, the Macclesfield Festival for the Performing Arts and Huddersfield's Mrs Sunderland Musical Competition. In the latter two competitions the choir gained first and second places in various sections.

The choir is directed by Halyna Savchyn, a native of Ukraine who now lives in the UK. Born in Lviv, she studied at the Lysenko Institute of Music and in 1995 graduated as a choral conductor. She was also a member of the Lviv Operatic Society for six years.
