| About Ukrainian |
The instructions for
activating Ukrainian as an input language on a computer running Windows can be
found in the Windows Help facility. For example, if you have Windows XP, click
the Start button, and then Help and Support. Using the Search box find “Add another language”
and click on the link which appears under Suggested topics. The instructions should be displayed on the right-hand
side and will guide you through a simple process to activate Ukrainian as an
input language in addition to English (assuming this is your default input
language).
The above process
makes available a new keyboard layout which associates Ukrainian
characters with the keys on your physical keyboard. You now need a method of
switching between the English and Ukrainian keyboard layouts as required. There
are two main ways of doing this.
Firstly, you can use
the language icon which should have appeared on the taskbar at the bottom of
your screen. By default the icon will display “EN” for English. Click on it to
display a menu allowing you to select “UK” for Ukrainian.
Alternatively,
you can switch between the
languages by pressing an appropriate sequence of keys. The default key sequence
for this is configured when you add the Ukrainian input language as described
above. If you wish, you can change the sequence as described on the Windows XP
Help page entitled “To customize key sequences for input languages” (search for
“customize key sequences”).
